Twin pump, twin thermoblock, programmable temperature and pour settings. All good, but most importantly the ability to make great espresso. I now have a new toy...
I treated myself to a little Gaggia machine when I moved out to the 'burbs about 5 years ago. Poor wee little thing has worked it's little heart out brewing many a long machiatto but is getting very close the being put out to pasture.
The mornings are now getting colder and darker. Not anything like winter, at least it is still dry, but the temperature is now down into the single digits. It feels nice to walk out in, the air is still and there is that feeling that the day is going to warm up into something perfect for training. Unfortunately it is already cold enough to affect my Raynaud's. I've mentioned it a few times before, but this morning I have a long ride planned. In regard to trying to maintain some sort of blood flow to my fingers I have to delay the start until the temperature has climbed into double figures. Yes I wear thermals, windbreakers, other warm gear, gloves, double and even triple glove, but when temperature drops below 10 degrees, none of this can save my fingers. Already I am missing summer, and the weather today is so not anything like winter.
I'm really starting to get headaches if I'm without good coffee for too long. That's probably a cue to start rethinking my caffeine intake. With my first big race around the corner I'm probably going to have to cut down so I can actually get some performance benefits from my race day intake. I used to be a high responder to caffeine, but not lately. I've de veloped a tolerance which I think is progressing to a dependence. That said, I am writing this while drinking a long machiato.
With moving house came dealings with utility companies. In particular, phone and internet. The short version is I am no longer dealing with Optus for a number of reasons and have gone with another provider. However, I have been, and will be without internet access at home for a while. This is the main reason for a lack of updates. The good news is life is closer to settled and I have been training. A bit of pain throughout my legs while sitting here is a good reminder of a good track session yesterday.
With the Olympics coming up I was expecting a big-screen tele and a hard drive recorder!

Shhhhhh, don't tell it though.
Now that's probably better than any new tri toys!
